Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child demonstrates God's love to children in need worldwide by delivering gift-filled shoeboxes and the good news of Jesus Christ!

, thank you for your donation

The shoebox you donated online will be packed and sent to a child affected by war, poverty, famine, or natural disaster in a developing country. Each shoebox will carry the power of a simple message, that God cares for and loves the child who receives it.

Below is a summary of your donation. Please keep it for your records. For eligible donations, an official tax receipt will be mailed to your postal address in the coming weeks.

If you asked to “Follow your box” on our checkout page, we will email you when your shoebox destination is known, and will provide an update on the impact that Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are having on children, their country and the Gospel message. Destination countries are chosen and announced in late December.

Let the little children come to me ... for of such is the kingdom of God.

Costa Rica: Crocs

Costa Rica is one of the countries Canada sends shoeboxes to and sometimes sends Canadian volunteer teams to participate in shoebox outreach events. On one of these trips there was a Canadian volunteer who was handing out shoeboxes to the children. She picked up two boxes but one was significantly heavier than the other. She became nervous that she would be giving a box that was mostly empty to the child and this upset her.

After she handed out the two boxes she stood in front of the boy who received the shoebox that was really light. When he opened the box she couldn’t see what was inside but saw his face completely light up and he began screaming really loudly. He kept saying; “I have some crocs, I have some crocs, I have some crocs.” The boy had desperately wanted a pair of croc shoes and there in his shoebox was a pair of crocs that fit him perfectly.

Financial Information

MoneySense magazine has consistently identified Samaritan’s Purse as one of Canada’s most cost-effective charities, based on its analysis of what we spend on administration and fundraising as a proportion of all money donated, on how much money we maintain in reserves, and on how we are governed by our board. In MoneySense’s 2018 Charity 100 grades, we received an overall A grade. Samaritan’s Purse is featured in the International Aid & Development sector.

Samaritan’s Purse Canada is audited annually by an independent public accounting firm, and our financial statement is available upon request. Occasionally we receive more contributions for a given project than can wisely be applied to that project. When this happens, we use these funds to meet a similar pressing need as directed by our Board.

About Us

The story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30-37) gives a clear picture of God's desire for us to help those in desperate need wherever we find them. Since 1970, Samaritan's Purse has followed Christ's command by aiding the world's poor, sick, and suffering. We are an effective means of reaching hurting people in countries around the globe with food, medicine, and other assistance in the Name of Jesus Christ. This, in turn, earns us a hearing for the Gospel, the Good News of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

International Giving

If you’re not in Canada, you can give through one of our worldwide offices. Each office works toward the same goal of taking the love of Jesus Christ to victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, and disease.
